The program unveiled

confpresse.jpg This afternoon, at the press conference, Mr Jean Espilondo, Mayor of Anglet, represented by Mr Gérard Cazaux, Deputy Mayor in charge of Sports and Tourism, Mr Emmanuel Alzuri, Director of Anglet Tourisme, and Bruno Delaye, founder and organizer of the International Surf Film Festival of Anglet, revealed the programme of the 8th edition of the Festival, which will take place on July 13th to 16th.

At the Espace de l’Ocean in Anglet, and in presence of many film-makers and members of the Jury, Bruno Delaye announced the 2011 selection: 16 films and 3 short films in competition, and one film out of the competition.
Once again, the films were selected along the same criteria that have made the success of the festival: amazing action footage, innovative film-making and music and an unique story-telling.

‘I meant to offer the largest and most eclectic variety of films to achieve a good balance between the latest blockbusters and productions that give a different perspective on our sport”, explained Bruno Delaye.

Bruno Delaye also introduced the Jury, presided by Hawaian Bernie Baker and made of some great names in surfing and media, in the likes of Pascal Josèphe, Nelson Monfort, Patrice Héraud, Franck Laporte-Fauret, Brigitte Darrigrand, René Bégué, Philippe Malvaux and Yann Bénétrix.
Joel de Rosnay and Jean Louis Poupinel will be Presidents of Honor of the Festival.

ouverture2010.jpg For those who cannot attend the festival, the official Opening Ceremony was broadcasted live, both on the site and the facebook page of the event. The word coming out

212.jpg With another day to go and three films on the programme, the word coming out of the jury room is very positive overall with a particular interest in two films already, one for its creativity and the other for the quality of surfing -- confirming that the variety of the selection is the key point of this 8th edition.

Yet, nothing is set at this stage and the jury is expecting more talk before coming to a final agreement and the release of the award list tomorrow night!

There is also time left for the audience to go and vote online for the film that will receive the Online Award endorsed by the Conseil Général 64.

It was a great night for the twin brothers as they also receive the Best Music Award, a great reward since most of the music was given to them or composed specially for the film, including the now famous Welcome Home by Radical Face
